MEGS declares his Retirement

· News

It was perhaps a shock to many Companions in the Province to receive this letter dated 18th August 2023 via the Provincial Scribe E.

"Companions
I am writing to you all to advise that I will be retiring as Grand Superintendent with effect from Friday 19th April 2024.
This has been a very difficult decision to make as I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in office but, as you may be aware, my health has not been 100% since my fall in November 2022.
I now believe it is in the best interests of the Province, and myself, to step back from my office and allow my successor to lead the Province during this time of change and great opportunity.
The Pro Grand Master/Pro First Grand Principal’s new strategy, along with the soon to be released Archway, will bring a renewed interest in our wonderful Order and it needs someone fully fit to make the most of this.
The name of my successor is yet to be confirmed by Supreme Grand Chapter and will be communicated as soon as possible.
In the meantime I will continue to lead the Province to the best of my ability and will always remember the great honour and privilege I have been afforded.
With my very best wishes
John E.Comp. John M Phenix
Grand Superintendent"

E. Comp. John has made a significant contribution to this Provincem having held a Provincial Office since 2001, finally achieving the Office of Most Excellent Grand Superintendent in April 2019. (Living as he does in Cannock he has clocked up thousands of miles in the last 23 years)

Despite the difficulties caused by Covid -19 and the lockdown, he worked tirelessly throughout that difficult period, holding regular Zoom meetings to ensure that communications with the Companions were sustained. We have had Provincial Seminars, Presentations, the re-commencemnt of the "Talking Heads" presentation and a new and comprehesive Worcestershire Ritual Book and there is still more to come.

We should now seek to give him as much support as possible in this his final year in Office, and ensure that, wherever possible, we emulate his dedication and commitment to our Supreme Order.
