Mosaic Chapter C5028

Regular Convocation Friday 7th February 2020

February 10, 2020

On 7th February Mosaic Chapter No. 5028 combined its 300th Meeting on the occasion of their 75th Anniversary with their Installation Convocation to provide a really wonderful night at Dudley.

The carefully constructed evening was marred by the absence through illness of E. Comp. A W Huband, PPrGStB, who should have progressed from “J” to “H”. However, sterling work from E. Comp. R. E. Morris, PPrGSoj, who occupied both Chairs as required, conducted both the Installation and the Address to the Blue Robe, all at short notice, maintaining the high standards set by the other Principals and kept the evening flowing smoothly.

The success of the evening as displayed by the included photographs, was very well attended and promises well for the Chapter’s last Convocation which is to be held on Friday 3rd April, when the Warrant is to be surrendered. This will be an occasion of reflection and strength aided by the booklet produced by the newly installed “J”, E. Comp. D J V Morgan, describing a history of this important Chapter since it’s Consecration on 21st February 1945, which counted the Provincial Grand Master, Ben Marsh, among its Founders.

There is an amazing story in it dated 7th February 1969 when Dudley was snowbound and the strugglers who had made it decided to Open the Chapter at 19:00. At 19:10 there was a Report on the door where the MEGS, E. Comp. Freddie Griffiths, who had left Edgbaston at 16:30, demanded admission and the Installation went ahead.

Scribe E, E. Comp. R N Collins, PPrAGSoj, read a most interesting account of the Chapter’s formation, Consecration and salient points during the evening which, together with the booklet and the gift of a Welsh Slate Coaster was warmly received by the Companions present.

The new MEZ, E. Comp. Julian Lowe may be proud of his Chapter and Companions throughout the Province are urged to try to attend the Final Convocation on 3rd April as there will not be too many more Masonic meetings at Wellington Road, Dudley.
