At the junction of a busy crossroads in Olton, Solihull, is a tranquil, comfortable and welcomong place; indeed a Haven, for those women who are, or were, enduring their journeys with Breast Cancer,

Opened just two years ago the Breast Cancer Haven – West Midlands has helped over 700 “visitors” through its doors to receive emotional support from the counselling and therapies proven to alleviate symptoms and provide coping mechanisms to allow an improvement in their quality of life and successfully manage their individual needs.

With no Government funding, but with the endorsement of the local NHS hospitals, who recognise the lack of support for women with breast cancsr in the area, the Haven offers a programme of such support that can cost upto £1000.for each visitor who comes to them.

“ The NHS got rid of my cancer but Breast Cancer Haven put me back together again “ is a quote from one such visitor who benefited.

The donation from your Provincial Grand Charity fund is shown being presented by E Comp Alan Bolton Prov ADC to Caroline Kelley, who herself was diagnosed at the age of 31 and received support at Breast Cancer Haven, and is now a keen fundraiser here !

Accompanying Alan is his lady Jackie (on the right) and their very good friend Tracey (on the left) who recommended Breast Cancer Haven to E Comp Alan for consideration by the Provincial Chapter Charity Fund following her successful time there.

Our Past MEGS is seen making a presentation to one of the three young school councillors at The Fort Royal School in Worcester. This incredible place caters for those with a range of special needs, in the wider Worcestershire area, with a caring and fulfilling education in the children's early years.

With 21 classes, plus a nursery group, the school has 170 staff that provide the support for the childrens learning and development. All of which has to be carried out on an ever decreasing budget so any financial assistance is always gratefully received.

Margaret Jones (pictured left) is the very enthusiastic Fundraiser for the school and welcomes the opportunity to speak to any groups about the work of Fort Royal School and “spread the word”.
