Salute the Centenarian

It is with great joy that we are able to celebrate the 100th Birthday of Alan who was born on 18th August 1920.

This was the year when The Unknown Warrior was buried at Westminster Abbey, the first Car Tax was introduced (£1), a bottle of Scotch was 12/6d (63p) and the average Weekly Wage was £4. 10s. (£4.50).

Alan is now living in a Royal British Legion Care Home in Ripon, North Yorkshire, but his Masonic Career is solidly set in Worcestershire.

Initiated into Bordesley Abbey Lodge 4495 on 28/11/1948 and Worshipful Master in 1959. He was a Founder of Custos Lodge 9320 and Forge Mill Lodge 9658. He was a Member of Worcs. Installed Masters Lodge where he was Worshipful Master in 1996. He served as Provincial Junior Grand Warden in 1964, Appointed to Grand Rank as a PGStB in 1974 and Promoted to PAGDC in 1985. He received his 70 Years of Service Certificate in 2016.

Exalted into Bordesley Abbey Chapter 4495 on 17/09/1958 and served as Provincial Grand Registrar from 1973 to 1984. He held the rank of PPrGSN. He received his 50 Years of Service Certificate in 2008.

He is an Honorary Member of Simon de Montfort Preceptory No. 414 and served the Province as Sub Prior in 1997 and finally being Promoted to 2nd Gt. Constable in 2007.

In the Ancient and Accepted Rite (Rose Croix), he was Perfected into St. Nicolas Chapter No. 198 on 22/10/1955, received his 300 in 1980, Promoted to 310 in 1988 and elevated to 320 on 20/03/2001. He was a Founder of Bordesley Abbey Chapter 918, which was consecrated on 21st February 1983, and became MWS in 1987. He was also Founder Member of Worcestershire Chapter 970, which was Consecrated 0n 23/03/1987, and in which he served as the 14th MWS in 2000-2001.

A very full Masonic career enjoyed by a dedicated Freemason.
