Support for Wyre Forest 'Dial a Ride'

December 9, 2018

Around the middle of December brings the Christmas “get-togethers” when many share their “Thanks” to those who volunteer throughout the year in many different ways.

It was a privilege to be at one such gathering for the Wyre Forest Dial a Ride in Kidderminster where the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies – E Comp Tim Jones – presented a cheque from the Provincial Grand Chapter Charity Fund to Robert Hartell – Honoury President of the WFDAR who was the co-founder, over 30 years ago.

The WFDAR charity works hard to provide “Door to Door” transport for those who have difficulty using public transport within the Wyre Forest area and its neighbourhood.

With the withdrawal of many rural bus services and the difficulty of driving, for many in later years, the Dial a Ride has become a lifeline.

To be able to get to medical appointments, social gatherings or even to do shopping is available from WFDAR and its team of volunteers.

The Charity Fund’s Trustees met a request from E Comp Ian Redfern, of Vernon Chapter, with approval and Ian is seen here with E Comps Rob Fisher & Glen Collins who also volunteer for the WFDR.
